Break Time!

Alrighty, so here's what going on. I am taking a small break from reviewing at least. I've found that I just can't juggle reading and my job without pushing my writing to the side and I really don't want that to happen. It's hard to get everything done in the 4 hours or so that I have in between waking up and going to work. When a review goes up, I basically JUST finished that book and then I'm on to the next one that I want to review two days later. It's not fun. So what I want to do is take a break from reviewing, and stockpile reviews so that I can be ahead by a couple weeks when I get back into the swing of things.

I'll still be doing the occasional post, like IMM on Sundays (this upcoming one has a TON of awesome books) and I still have to do my National Book Festival recap (pics can be found here). I also have a blog tour post for Deadly Cool coming up next Friday. I'm not sure when I'll come back to reviewing; it really just depends on how quickly I get through books and can get ahead on reviews, but hopefully before the end of the month.

It'll be nice to kinda take a breather and not have to figure out how many pages I need to read each day to stay on schedule. I can get back to doing about an hour of writing a day because I'd really like to finish this book and start querying as soon as I can (and then start writing another book). I'm really excited for this to happen and I hope I can come back very soon. Wish me luck! :)

  1. How did I NOT know you were writing?!?! I think this is a similar problem for a lot of book bloggers, especially aspiring authors. I have the same problem and I need to think about it too otherwise I'm just reviewing other's books all the time and never finishing writing my own. I think I'm going to do NANO again this year and go from there.

I'm right behind you 100% James and you can still read and review..you just wont be so prolific but there's nothing wrong with that *hug*

Enjoy your break! I think we all need them from time to time.

I just started to work a little over a month ago, and it has been a struggle to keep everything going, so I understand.

Enjoy your time, and keep writing because you truly are an awesome writer.

  4. Well I can certainly understand. It amazes me that people have time to read, make YT videos, and make blog posts with a full-time job, housework, yard work, blah, blah.

  6. Happy writing!

Yeah, don't ever let the blogging get to the point where it isn't fun. Speaking as a writer, I'd rather have people enjoy my books at their own pace rather than feel that reading them is a chore.

  7. Enjoy your break and I hope you get your writing done, I'll still check for your IMM each week (I missed it when you went a few weeks without doing them). All the best!!

  8. Lynsey- LOL not many people do know. I occasionally tweet my word count but that's about it. If you'd like to swap manuscripts sometime, that would be cool. I only have 13 pages though. :P

Georgina- Thanks for the kind words! Hopefully I'll be back soon!

Alex- My job started in August so it's been a bit of a struggle since then. Thanks for the kind words about my writing! :)

bumblesby- Luckily, I don't have yard work since I live in a townhouse so that helps. :) But yeah, it's VERY hard- that's why I stopped doing Fragment Friday (well, one of the reasons).

Kate- DAMN! That's far in advance. I don't know if I'll get that far ahead, but we'll see.

Jennifer- Luckily, the reading is never a chore. I still do enjoy reading the books I'm reviewing but it'll be nicer to take my time with them (and also read library books too- I want to read Jane Lynch's and Ellen Degeneres' memoirs).

Caroline- Aw thanks! Yeah, I'll be doing IMMs every week now so there's at least that to look forward to.
